Duke, see the attachment for image of a cinderblock. It is mostly used in american construction of warehousing for storage purposes. :d'oh

ah ha!, thank's muff, we call them "besser blocks" or just plain old concrete blocks. So there is no cinder involved ( cinders to us are the floaty bits that happen when there's a fire) couldn't see how a building could be made of them. The term "cinderblock" comes up a lot in the novels I read that are set in Key West. Duke

I wonder where the term "cinderblock" came from then, maybe the original company that made them was owned by Cinderella??
