Wow, I just looked at the site and it appears that all of November's and December's posts were lost. My largest project which took about 65 hours was lost in that conversion. I don't understand why the newest posting were lost rather than the oldest.

Anyway It hurts when one's original work is destroyed. This happened once before and I restored a story which is now in the hall of fame but I will not waste my time here again. You should be aware of how much time and effort on behalf of those of us who donate our creative work to be viewed by the members was wasted.

"My Confession" had over 50 member replies and 20,000 views which made it the most viewed in the fantasy story forum. That was achieved in the one month it was up. In addition I posted the unused pictures in the picture gallery. They are also gone.

I have been approached by at least ten other sites to post stories. So far I have only posted here and one other. I will not post anything else here again.

No warning was given to save the work before your site was taken apart in the "upgrade". It would seem to me that care should have been taken to allow members and contributors to save works posted here.

I know that you guys hate negative feedback like this but it needs to be said. I hope in the future you protect the original work of your remaining members better than you protected mine.

jill i am so sorry...having seen your work, i know what this kind of loss must mean to you...and i wish we could have known ourselves, so that we could have warned you.chucky and i have been scrambling all day to get some things redone that we had been doing over the last few months that got lost...:(
we don't hate negative feedback, we hate accusatory crap...the likes of which our detractors thrive on...we want feedback of any kind, actually...but damn, i wish there was something we could do now...to fix this for you....i did not stop to think about the stories when i saw what was happening here this morning...:(

Jill, I'm very sorry this happened. I wish we had had more notice too. I had no idea that the database was reaching it's max, I don't have that visability from my position. You worked so hard on your stories and to find out that they are lost now makes me feel really bad. You have every right to feel the way you do. I wish you didn't have to leave but where ever you go you will be loved as you were here. I'll miss your stories because they were the best.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost "My Confession"! I loved that story and the pictures and I thought that was one of your best works!

If it's any consolation, I liked the story so much, I copied it onto a floppy disk in a bare bones version (w/o the fancy HTML but not in a straight text) and downloaded all the pictures on my hard drive (I think I got all of them). If you need help with either getting the story or pictures back to you, you can either post here or PM me. If you already have a copy of the story, then think of my offer as just trying to help out one friend from another. ;flowers :rose :heart :bigsad

What sort of backups are being made? If I remember right (and I may be thinking of another site) this site uses MySQL which is actually very easy to backup.

So the database gets slower and slower the bigger it gets, forcing periodic purges?

That sucks. I've only set up a couple of MySQL based websites before and neither of them used vBulletin or any of its work-alikes so I don't really have any suggestions as far as how to solve that problem.

I'm very sorry believe me this was not something I wanted to happen. There was not much I could do I was working hard to save as many posts as possible. If you read the other posts they explain why this was necessary. Again I'm very sorry.

I, too, archived Jill's work. I have the 10 chapters of My Confession with Jill's and some others comments in a txt file. There are also 91 images associated with this story, a total of 4.49Mb of data.

I have been in contact with Jill after using here images to illustrate her story, My Hero, which I sent to her. I have been waiting patiently for her to give permission to publish the illustrated version (in pdf and MS Word formats) here and elsewhere. Looks like that isn't going to happen now because I don't think it would be right for me to "alter" (as necessary to illustrate) and release a known, active author's work without permission.

There must be a way to work around this. And, no, I won't send them privately without Jill's permission... please don't ask.

i too agree that jill's permission is essential here, and i admire your integrity in this issue. if you have jill's work...you or anyone else, please if you do nothing else with it...please send it to jill for her to have. after that, she can do what she likes with it...and here's hoping that she is able one way or another to retrieve all of her very talented writings...

To the members of AI,

I just finished responding to your very nice PM's to me. Thank you to all who wrote to me. I tried to explain that I'm not upset any longer about what happened. However I had deleted from my hard drive the roughly two hundred pictures which were used to in creating the "My Confession" story. I think there were about 93 or 94 pictures posted with the story and then about 50 to 60 posted as the unused pictures. They were taking up so much room on my drive that I just figured I would keep them here. It is my fault that I didn't take the time to save them onto floppy's.

Anyway, I hereby give permission to anyone here to repost the story onto this site. If it is reposted the pictures and the text that went with each picture should also be restored. I still have the text for the entire 12 chapters but none of the pictures and none of the text that described each picture in relationship to the story.

Coladrinker and RJ, thanks for offering to help restore the work. Feel free to post it if you have the time and desire to do so.

And RJ, I still owe you a replacement picture of Cathy from "My Hero". I will email you two and you can choose the one you like best.

Oh, I forgot to ask if any of you guys or gals saved the pictures that went with the story "Modeling For My Son" which is in the Hall of Fame forum the pictures were lost again in the upgrade. They were lost back in the first conversion at the end of October. Then I still had the pictures and reposted them in their correct spots. But since I fixed the problem caused by that previous conversion in November it now needs to be fixed again. I would advise that one of the moderators move the work out of the Hall of Fame so it could be updated with the pictures.

I don't have that model's pictures anymore so I can't restore it. If the story is moved then members who saved it could post pictures at the end of the story and then I could move them back into their right places.

Hey there coladrinker, Yep I had some good luck and got back some of the pics that were lost. I just reposted the story "My Confession" in it's entirety in the Fantasy Incest Story Forum. It took 7 hours to repost that file. I guess I got carried away with the length on that one.

I still need to try to find the pics to "Modeling For My Son". Do you know anyone who saved them?
